ACT I
Roman begins his journey in isolation, living in a homeless encampment, until he's thrust into the glamorous life of movie star Victor Gold —his twin brother—thanks to the manipulative efforts of Frank, Victor’s desperate manager. Roman agrees to impersonate Victor to preserve his brother’s secret and career, but quickly struggles under the pressure.
On set, he fumbles a key scene and clashes with Frank, while falling for Scarlett, Victor’s co-star, who’s unaware of the switch. Haunted by his past, especially his estranged wife Mary, Roman begins to unravel emotionally, and his paranoia deepens when a curious publicist begins digging into his story.
ACT II
Haunted by his painful past on the streets and a toxic bond with Mary, Roman spirals into an identity crisis as he tries to fully embody Victor, obsessing over his brother’s older films and erasing his own identity in the process. As the publicist grows suspicious and interviews Roman, Roman’s mental state deteriorates.
He distances himself from the real Victor. Victor attempts to reconnect with Roman after all their years apart. Victor reveals the guilt that has haunted him ever since their parents displaced Roman. When he attempts to finally redeem himself and find a brother, Roman rejects him.
Roman’s erratic behavior on and off the set jeopardizes the production and alienates the cast, particularly Scarlett, who senses a change in "Victor." In desperation to prove his worth, Roman sabotages the film’s original footage and re-records scenes to showcase himself and his “greatness”, only to be haunted by a nightmarish vision of his delusions. In this vision, we see his ultimate lust - to be royalty, but he’s interrupted by the truth he can no longer ignore. As reality sets in for him, his desire to become his brother becomes undeniable.
ACT III
After delivering a stunning final monologue, Roman basks in the illusion of success — only for reality to catch up as production ends and the world begins to close in on his deception. With the publicist growing dangerously close to exposing him and no path back to his former life, Roman faces an existential choice: maintain the lie and risk complete collapse, or finally confront the broken man beneath the fame.
His thirst for validation now threatens everything he’s tried to build, setting the stage for a final reckoning with his identity, his past, and the cost of living someone else’s life.
